Regionalism & Foreign Trade Zones
If you haven't done so already take a moment and look at the 11/18 post, Regionalism, under the Human Settlements category. There is a short video if you are not up to the long version or an article you can read.
Here is a link to Boise Valley Economic Partnership. On the right you will see a link to a Regional Map. We now have the defined area for regionalism in the Boise area. There is even a Regional Overview with a brochure describing it. Notice on page 14 it talks about Foreign Trade Zones, also known as free trade zones. Here is another article on free trade zones by Liberty News.
Problems with foreign trade zones include:
Foreign corporations are given more economic liberty than local employers who face insurmountable regulations.
Local governments pay part of the initial factory setup
Delay of tax payments
Reduction of taxes owed
The corporation often moves out after several years
Free trade zones are part of "economic development" which means the government takes your tax dollars and puts them into businesses, local and foreign. Another form of corporatism.
Chobani in Twin Falls. The owner, Hamdi Ulukaya who was born in Turkey and is a billionaire, was given taxpayer money to bring his company into the Twin Falls area.
Hoku in Pocatello is now in bankruptcy. Although Governor Otter states it is a Hawaii based company it is actually owned by China.
Heinz in Pocatello.
Governor Otter was in negotiations to bring Simomach to Boise a few years ago but because of strong objections this plan was dropped. An article on this from 2011.
But, the interesting issue here is, who put the Boise Valley Economic Partnership in charge? Did you vote for any of them? Did you know this group was being created and given authority to make decisions about Boise and the surrounding area? If you don't agree with their plans who do you go to? Unless you, an Idaho citizen, become informed and involved, this area will succumb to regionalism, your tax dollar will be used for corporatism, and the development of this area into human settlements will continue.
This website is non-partisan and is solely dedicated to removing the harmful controls placed on our state and nation through Agenda 21 and its associated programs. We invite all Idahoans to join us in this fight for freedom!
