The recent activities by the federal government on housing are frightening. The most recent regulatory proposal will give HUD the authority to dictate who will live where in order to "proactively to overcome historic patterns of segregation, promote fair housing choice, and foster inclusive communities for all." This means you will no longer have the choice of the type of neighborhood in which you choose to live. More on the proposed rule by HUD.
From Agenda 21, Chapter 7 covers how "Human Settlements" should be designed: 7.16 (c) Adopting innovative city planning strategies to address environmental and social issues. 7.19...they should also concentrate on activities aimed at facilitating the transition from rural to urban lifestyles and settlement patterns... 7.20...international and national representatives of local authorities, should be strengthened and coordinated... 7.20.d HUD entered into a partnership with Germany for the promotion of "sustainable communities". Agenda 21 calls for these partnerships, "Participate in international "sustainable city networks" to exchange experiences and mobilize national and international technical and financial support". Under Chapter 7 you will see changes that are occurring in Boise. This effort is being promoted by Dave Bieter, Smart Growth, COMPASS, Urban Land Institute, and through federal regulations. 7.52. Promoting efficient and environmentally sound urban transport systems in all countries should be a comprehensive approach to urban-transport planning and management. To this end, all countries should: (a) Integrate land-use and transportation planning to encourage development patterns that reduce transport demand; (b) Adopt urban-transport programmes favouring high-occupancy public transport in countries, as appropriate; (c) Encourage non-motorized modes of transport by providing safe cycleways and footways in urban and suburban centres in countries, as appropriate; (d) Devote particular attention to effective traffic management, efficient operation of public transport and maintenance of transport infrastructure; (e) Promote the exchange of information among countries and representatives of local and metropolitan areas; (f) Re-evaluate the present consumption and production patterns in order to reduce the use of energy and national resources. Everyone should take time to study Chapter 7 of Agenda 21 as development of human settlements is being implemented across the United States to forever change the way we live and take away our freedom of that choice. Another source of good information is a book by Stanley Kurtz, Spreading the Wealth: How Obama is Robbing the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities.
