Education for All
UNESCO has developed a program called Education for All with 6 defined goals that are to be met by 2015.
Goal 1 - ...comprehensive early childhood care and education.
Goal 2 - ...by 2015 all children have access to...compulsory primary education....
Goal 3 - ...learning needs...are met through...access to...learning and life-skills programmes.
Goal 4 - ...by 2015, access to basic and continuing education for all adults.
Goal 5 - ...achieving gender equality in education by 2015....
Goal 6 - ...measurable learning outcomes are achieved...in literacy, numeracy and essential life skills.
Notice #6 seems to reference Common Core ELA and Math standards.
These goals will be achieved by:
Policy Dialogue - ... implementation of national education policies...
As much as Tom Luna states Common Core is state led all evidence points to the feds, the most compelling evidence being the connection with states having to adopt Common Core in order to get federal money.
Monitoring - ...based on reliable education statistics...
There is definitely data collection as part of Common Core. There is disagreement as to whether or not it actually gathers personal information on students.
Advocacy - ...permanent dialogue with EFA partners, including governments, multilateral and intergovernmental agencies, civil society, parliamentarians and the private sector...
The UN has ongoing discussions with the US Department of Education.
Funding - ...the strong political will of governments for national resource mobilization is a critical factor.
As part of the stimulus money in 09', millions were directed to the states. In order to receive those funds states had to "adopt" Common Core.
Capacity Development - On the right side of the page is a Cap-EFA box. Click on partners, then Donor Partnerships (including donor countries). Click on that and you will see the United States at the bottom of the list. On that page you will also see "...involve not only the flow of technical and financial resources from richer to lower-income countries...". This flow of technical and financial resources is an Agenda 21 goal in many areas. More redistribution of wealth from the U.S. to other countries.
Our state legislators need to take a close look at the source of Common Core. Is it state led, or UN led? There is sufficient evidence to support that it is coming from the UN via backdoor maneuvers by the federal government. A large portion of UNESCO's programs align with how Common Core is being implemented. You can see sustainable development, social justice, injection of other cultures, and a host of other UN driven ideology in text books. Given one of the largest textbook suppliers is Pearson, who is a UN business partner, should we not take a more serious look at the implications of Common Core in all areas?
