This booklet, Teaching Human Rights, now removed from OHCHR, has some interesting material.
Page 14 "Sometimes teachers meet resistance to human rights education on the ground that it imposes non-native principles that contradict and threaten local values and customs. Teachers concerned about resistance from administrators should meet with them in advance, share goals and plans for the class, and explain about the United Nations human rights frame- work and related educational initiatives (such as the United Nations Decade for Human Rights Education)." Shouldn't we resist someone wanting me to reject America's heritage? Page 33 "Conflict resolution" Here is a video (scroll towards bottom) of a teacher playing pseudo-therapist on conflict resolution with two kids who were in a disagreement instead of teaching them how to read or do math, or even US history. Page 58 "To introduce an international dimension, teachers could have the class research the decision-making processes of the United Nations and the issues currently discussed. They could also review some cases brought before international commissions, tribunals and courts." Note, not American law, UN law. Page 60 Compares the UN "rights" to rights granted nationally, which means they would have the kids compare our Constitution and Bill of Rights to the UN. Page 65 "Right to Privacy" "Article 16 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child gives a child the right to protection from interference with privacy, family, home and correspondence and from libel or slander. However, like many other rights guaranteed to children in the Convention, the extent to which it can be exercised depends on the child’s “evolving capacity”." So is that why there is data collection with Common Core? Page 75 "Explain the difference between sex (biologically determined factors) and gender (culturally determined factors)." Page 104-109 explains the 30 Articles of "human rights". No longer is it God given rights as granted by the U.S. Constitution. Page 143 International Human Rights Law - ah yes, one world order As Common Core moves forward you will see more of this description of rights as dictated by the UN. Is that what you want your children to learn?
